Good Mead

Location from Icewind Dale by R.A. Salvatore / Wizards of the Coast / Black Isle Studios

A Ten-Towns settlement famous for its honey mead — a surprisingly warm community sustained by its renowned meadery and the sweetness of its chief export.

Good Mead is an anomaly in Ten-Towns — a place where people occasionally smile. The meadery produces the finest honey wine in the North, traded as far as Waterdeep, and this export gives the town a prosperity and pride that its size doesn't otherwise warrant. The Mead Hall serves as tavern, meeting house, and community center, its interior warm and fragrant with fermenting honey. Under the Rime, the bees have struggled, threatening the town's entire livelihood. Speaker elections have been contentious, and the town's stored mead has been stolen, creating a crisis that strikes at Good Mead's very identity.

Appearance

A small but tidy collection of wooden buildings on the eastern shore of Redwaters, distinguished by the large meadery building at its center. Beehive boxes line the southern edge of town, insulated with straw against the cold. The air near the meadery carries a faint sweetness even in the deepest cold.
