Character from Icewind Dale by R.A. Salvatore / Wizards of the Coast / Black Isle Studios
Ancient shadow dragon that drove the dwarves from Mithral Hall — a creature of living darkness whose very presence corrupts stone and devours light.
Shimmergloom does not roar — it whispers, and the whispers carry the weight of oblivion. It conquered Mithral Hall not through brute force alone but by flooding its tunnels with shadow creatures from the Plane of Shadow. It is ancient, territorial, and regards the mithral mines as its rightful hoard. It speaks rarely, and when it does, its voice seems to come from everywhere in the darkness at once. It considers dwarves to be vermin who briefly infested its lair.
Immense dragon seemingly made of solidified shadow. Light bends and dies near its body. Eyes like twin voids that somehow still convey malevolent intelligence. Wings trailing darkness like smoke.
