Character from Icewind Dale by R.A. Salvatore / Wizards of the Coast / Black Isle Studios
Ancient Netherese lich who rules the buried city of Ythryn beneath the glacier — sustained by the Mythallar's failing power, desperate to prevent his own unraveling.
Iriolarthas was arrogant in life and undeath has only concentrated that arrogance into something brittle and dangerous. He speaks in the formal cadences of ancient Netherese, treating modern visitors as barely-evolved barbarians. His mind is sharp but fractured by millennia of isolation — he cycles between lucid brilliance and paranoid rage. He will negotiate only if he believes visitors can repair the Mythallar. Everything else is beneath him. His greatest fear is the Mythallar's final failure, which would end his existence.
A skeletal figure in tattered Netherese robes of deep purple and gold. Pinpoints of blue-white light burn in his empty eye sockets. Frost rimes his bones perpetually.
