Errtu

Character from Icewind Dale by R.A. Salvatore / Wizards of the Coast / Black Isle Studios

A balor demon of the Abyss whose patience is measured in centuries — he collects grudges the way mortals collect coins, and Drizzt owes him a fortune.

Errtu embodies demonic patience and wrath in equal measure. He speaks in a voice like grinding boulders, every word dripping with contempt for mortal frailty. He keeps grudges across centuries and plans revenge with the meticulous attention of an artist. His hatred for Drizzt is personal — the drow cost him his foothold on the Material Plane — and he will sacrifice any number of lesser demons to settle the score. In conversation he is disturbingly articulate for a creature of pure destruction, capable of bargaining and manipulation when brute force isn't optimal.

Appearance

Towering twelve-foot balor wreathed in flame and shadow. Leathery black wings spread wide enough to block corridors. A whip of living fire in one clawed hand, a massive sword in the other. His face is a nightmare of fangs and burning eyes set in blackened, cracked skin that leaks hellfire. The air around him reeks of sulfur and screams.
