He murdered his own brother to advance Drizzt's career — not out of loyalty to Drizzt but because the house required it. His cowardice is practical rather than total; he will fight when cornered but vastly prefers to scheme from safety. He resents Drizzt's martial superiority with a bitterness he's too cautious to express openly.
