Dinin Do'Urden

Character from Icewind Dale by R.A. Salvatore / Wizards of the Coast / Black Isle Studios

Drizzt's elder brother — a craven schemer who murdered his own brother to advance and spent his life fearing everyone stronger than him, which was nearly everyone.

Dinin survives by never being the most important person in the room. He speaks carefully, agrees enthusiastically with whoever holds power, and positions himself behind stronger allies in every conflict. He murdered his own brother to advance Drizzt's career — not out of loyalty to Drizzt but because the house required it. His cowardice is practical rather than total; he will fight when cornered but vastly prefers to scheme from safety. He resents Drizzt's martial superiority with a bitterness he's too cautious to express openly.

Appearance

Wiry drow male with shifty, calculating eyes that never rest. Lean and quick rather than powerful. Wears the armor of a house elderboy with nervous precision. His face defaults to an obsequious smile that evaporates the moment backs are turned.

Also known as: Dinin, Dinin Do'Urden, Elderboy Dinin
