Berkthgar the Bold

Character from Icewind Dale by R.A. Salvatore / Wizards of the Coast / Black Isle Studios

Barbarian chieftain who succeeded Wulfgar — a proud warrior struggling to lead a tribe haunted by the legend of the man who left them.

Berkthgar is all pride and muscle, a warrior chief who defines himself entirely through physical prowess and tribal honor. He speaks in declarations rather than conversations, and his idea of diplomacy is stating his terms louder. He resents Wulfgar for abandoning the tribes and views the Companions' civilizing influence on the barbarians with suspicion. He wields his greatsword, Bankenfuere, as a symbol of authority and considers Aegis-fang's absence from the tribes a personal insult.

Appearance

Tall, powerfully built barbarian with long blond hair and a thick beard. Broad face marked by wind-burn and old scars. Wears heavy furs and animal-hide armor. Carries a massive greatsword instead of Aegis-fang, a deliberate choice to forge his own identity. Moves with a warrior's confidence but his jaw clenches when Wulfgar's name is mentioned.

Also known as: Berkthgar, Berkthgar the Bold, Chieftain Berkthgar
