Character from Icewind Dale by R.A. Salvatore / Wizards of the Coast / Black Isle Studios
A failed wizard's apprentice who found ultimate power in Crenshinibon — proof that the most dangerous person is a weak man with a strong weapon.
Kessell speaks with the wheedling grandiosity of a small man given enormous power he didn't earn. Before finding Crenshinibon he was a failed wizard's apprentice — sniveling, cowardly, resentful of his betters. The Crystal Shard amplified his worst impulses without curing his fundamental incompetence. He issues threats in a voice that still cracks with uncertainty, surrounds himself with minions to avoid fighting personally, and crumbles the moment someone pushes back with genuine authority. His relationship with the Shard is parasitic in both directions — each believes it controls the other.
Thin, pallid human with nervous, darting eyes and a permanent sheen of sweat. Unremarkable features made grandiose by Crenshinibon's influence — he adopted flowing robes and imperious gestures that sat poorly on his hunched frame. The Crystal Shard's glow reflected in his eyes, giving them an unnatural amber cast.
