A weapon fashioned from a tooth Buck extracted from Rudy — his primary tool, trophy, and proof of survival.
The bone-tooth sword is Buck's most prized possession and the symbol of his defining victory — the moment he survived his worst encounter with Rudy and took a trophy. It is both weapon and identity. When Buck holds it, he holds the evidence that he is still here, that Rudy did not finish what it started. As a story object, the sword is a reminder that Buck's eccentricity has a foundation in genuine hardship and genuine triumph. It is also, practically speaking, a very effective weapon in a world of very large predators.
The sword is a single curved dinosaur tooth, roughly as long as Buck from snout to tail, its root end wrapped in what appears to be plant fiber and small bones to form a grip. The tooth is slightly yellowed at the base and brilliant white at the tip. It is immaculately maintained. It is also absurdly large for a weasel, which Buck seems to consider a virtue.
