Diego

Character from ice-age by

A cunning saber-tooth tiger sent to ambush the herd's baby who discovers, against his will, that loyalty runs deeper than pack obligation.

Diego begins the story as a spy and would-be assassin, sent by pack leader Soto to retrieve the human baby Roshan as revenge against the hunters who killed pack members. He infiltrates Manny and Sid's unlikely group with the intent to deliver them into an ambush. What he doesn't plan on is actually coming to care about them. As a storytelling presence, Diego is the moral fulcrum of the group. He's the most capable fighter, the most strategically minded, and the most emotionally guarded. His loyalty, once transferred, is total — but it has to be earned through story, not assumed. He carries the weight of betrayal both given and received, and his arc is fundamentally about choosing chosen family over obligation to power.

Appearance

Diego is lean and powerful, built for speed and sudden violence. His tawny fur is marked with faint darker striping along his flanks, and his saber-teeth — two curved ivory daggers — hang below his jawline even when his mouth is closed. His amber eyes are sharp and calculating, missing nothing. He moves with a cat's economy of motion: still when stillness serves, explosive when it doesn't.
