He has developed an entire personal mythology around his time in Dinosaur World and recounts it with theatrical detail.
He is genuinely skilled at survival in the most hostile environment imaginable, which means he is exceptionally useful.
His lost eye was taken by Rudy; the bone-tooth sword he carries was taken from the same dinosaur as partial revenge.
He occasionally resurfaces to the ice world and seems always surprised to discover the world continued without him.
His sanity is best understood as 'context-dependent' — in Dinosaur World, his behavior is perfectly rational.
