Character from Hyperion by Dan Simmons
An android companion who traveled with Raul and Aenea — quiet, loyal, and secretly an observer for the Lions and Tigers and Bears, the cosmic entities guiding humanity's evolution.
A. Bettik is Raul Endymion's android companion throughout the Endymion novels — a patient, capable presence who handles logistics while Raul handles crises. He is also, unknowingly to most, an observer for the Lions and Tigers and Bears — the cosmic empathic entities in the Void Who orchestrated Aenea's existence. He represents the Cantos' theme of hidden agency — the quiet figures who watch, record, and ensure that events unfold as they must. He lost an arm during their journey and replaced it with a prosthetic without complaint. His loyalty to Aenea and Raul is absolute.
Blue-skinned android with a calm, composed bearing. Looks human enough to pass in most settings but the blue skin marks him as artificial. Moves with the deliberate care of someone who has been serving others for longer than most civilizations.
