Meteor City

Location from Hunter x Hunter by Yoshihiro Togashi

A junkyard city that doesn't exist on any map — where the world's unwanted are dumped and where the Phantom Troupe was born from the refusal to be discarded.

Meteor City is the origin of the Phantom Troupe and the series' most powerful metaphor. It's where the world dumps its garbage — including people. The residents are unregistered, undocumented, and legally nonexistent. Nobody tracks who enters or leaves, which makes it a source of untraceable people for organ trafficking, human experimentation, and recruitment. Chrollo, the Troupe, and many of its members grew up here. Their philosophy — take from the world that threw you away — is a direct product of Meteor City's existence. The city's motto: 'We accept everything, so take nothing from us.'

Appearance

A massive landfill-city built from the world's refuse. Mountains of garbage form the terrain. The buildings are improvised shelters made from scrap. There's no government, no law, and no official population. Satellite imagery shows nothing. Maps show nothing. The world pretends it doesn't exist.
