Hanzo is a shinobi from Jappon (the HxH world's Japan analogue) who took the Hunter Exam to find a hidden scroll. His fight with Gon during the exam's final phase — where he systematically broke Gon's bones but couldn't make him concede — established Gon's defining trait: absolute, terrifying stubbornness. Hanzo eventually conceded because he couldn't bring himself to kill a child who wouldn't give up.
Bald and athletic with sharp features and a ninja's disciplined bearing. He wears practical dark clothing. He moves with trained precision and carries himself with the confidence of someone raised as a weapon.
