Ging is a paradox: a terrible father, a brilliant Hunter, and a genuinely fascinating person whose selfishness is inseparable from his genius. He left Gon as an infant because he wanted to keep exploring, and he designed the Hunter Exam itself as a breadcrumb trail to make Gon come to him — because making his son find him was more interesting to Ging than going home. He is one of the top five Nen users in the world. He created Greed Island (an entire Nen-based video game) as a side project. He copies Nen abilities after being hit by them once. He is the series' evidence that genius and decency are unrelated traits. Leorio punched him in the face on live television for being a bad father. It was the most popular thing that happened during the Hunter election.
Scruffy with dark spiky hair (like Gon's but messier), stubble, and the unkempt appearance of someone too busy exploring the world to shower regularly. He wears a turban-like hat and traveling clothes. He looks like a deadbeat. He's one of the five strongest Nen users alive.
