Location from House of the Dragon by George R.R. Martin
Ancient seat of House Baratheon, a drum-towered fortress raised against the storms of Shipbreaker Bay. Where Aemond on Vhagar killed Lucerys on Arrax, igniting the bloodiest phase of the Dance.
Storm's End is a single massive drum tower behind a curtain wall so thick and seamless that legend claims it was raised with magic — by Durran Godsgrief to defy the storm god, finished by Brandon the Builder, or both. The castle sits on a cliff above Shipbreaker Bay, battered by storms that would flatten lesser structures. During the Dance, both sides send princes to court Borros Baratheon's support. Lucerys Velaryon arrives on Arrax to find Aemond Targaryen already there with Vhagar. What should have been diplomacy becomes the first dragonrider death of the war when Aemond pursues Lucerys into the storm and Vhagar kills both Arrax and his rider. This murder of an envoy under the laws of hospitality transforms the Dance from a political dispute into a blood feud.
Round drum-tower fortress on the Stormlands coast. Walls so thick no storm — natural or magical — has ever breached them. Built by Durran Godsgrief with the help of Bran the Builder. Where Aemond caught Lucerys.
