Character from House of the Dragon by George R.R. Martin
Master of Coin for the Greens and twin brother of Jason, the sharp political mind who divided and hid the royal treasury to deny it to Rhaenyra — tortured savagely when captured but never revealed where the gold was hidden.
Tyland is the dangerous Lannister twin — not the one who charges into battle but the one who ensures the battle can be funded. As Master of Coin on the Green Small Council, his first and most consequential act was dividing the royal treasury into four parts and hiding them separately, ensuring that even if King's Landing fell, Rhaenyra would inherit empty vaults. It was brilliant, ruthless, and entirely characteristic of a man who thinks in logistics rather than glory. When the Blacks took King's Landing, Tyland was captured and subjected to appalling torture to extract the locations of the hidden gold. He never broke. Whether this was courage, stubbornness, or simply the Lannister conviction that gold is more important than pain is debatable, but the result was the same: Rhaenyra never got the treasury. He survived the war hideously maimed and later served as Hand of the King during the regency, governing effectively despite his injuries — proof that the mind behind the gold was always worth more than the gold itself.
Identical to his twin Jason in coloring — golden-haired, green-eyed — but leaner and more watchful in bearing. Where Jason's face defaults to an easy smile, Tyland's defaults to careful assessment. Dresses richly but practically, favoring Lannister crimson in darker shades. After his torture, he is left blinded, maimed, and barely recognizable as the man he was.
