Tessarion

Character from House of the Dragon by George R.R. Martin

The Blue Queen — Prince Daeron's dragon, small but exquisitely beautiful with cobalt-blue scales, a young dragon who fought bravely at Tumbleton and died in the chaos of the betrayals there.

Tessarion is the dragon of Prince Daeron the Daring, the youngest of the Green Targaryen princes, and like her rider she is young, brave, and ultimately consumed by a war that was too large and too cruel for either of them. She fought at the First Battle of Tumbleton, where Daeron and the Greens won a significant victory with the help of the treacherous dragonseeds Hugh Hammer and Ulf White. Her fate after Daeron's death is confused in the sources — she was wounded, grounded, and may have been mercy-killed or simply died of her injuries. She never found another rider. The Blue Queen died blue and broken on a battlefield far from home, another young and beautiful thing destroyed by the arithmetic of civil war.

Appearance

Cobalt blue, deep and rich as sapphire, with copper-colored wing membranes and claws that gleam like dark bronze. She is small for a war dragon — young, compact, and quick — but her coloring makes her perhaps the most striking dragon after Sunfyre. In flight she is a streak of blue against the sky, luminous and quick. Her flame burns blue as well, hotter than the red fire of most dragons.
