Character from House of the Dragon by George R.R. Martin
A silver-grey dragon first bonded to Laenor Velaryon, then claimed by the dragonseed Addam Velaryon — a loyal, swift beast who served two riders and died faithfully with his second at the Second Battle of Tumbleton.
Seasmoke is notable for being one of the few dragons to accept a second rider while his first still lived — if Laenor truly survived his supposed death, then Seasmoke's acceptance of Addam Velaryon is a mystery that maesters still debate. Dragons bond for life, or so the theory goes, which means either Laenor was truly dead or the bond between dragon and rider is more complex than anyone understands. Under Addam Velaryon, Seasmoke fought loyally for the Blacks even when the other dragonseeds betrayed. At the Second Battle of Tumbleton, Addam flew Seasmoke into battle to prove that not all dragonseeds were traitors — and both died in the fighting, Seasmoke tangling with Vermithor in a brutal aerial combat that killed both dragons. His loyalty to his second rider redeemed the shame of the dragonseed betrayals.
Sleek and silver-grey, like a blade made flesh. He is smaller than the great war dragons but beautifully proportioned, with a metallic sheen to his scales that catches moonlight and sea-spray alike. His eyes are a pale silver. He moves with the fluid quickness of a creature born near the sea, and his wingbeats are near-silent compared to the thunderous crash of larger dragons.
