Moondancer

Character from House of the Dragon by George R.R. Martin

Lady Baela Targaryen's young dragon — slender, quick, and fearless, she fought the crippled Sunfyre over Dragonstone in a battle that proved size is not everything, though it cost both dragons their lives.

Moondancer was too young for war and flew into battle anyway, because her rider was Baela Targaryen — Daemon's daughter, who inherited her father's absolute refusal to stand down from a fight. When Aegon II arrived at Dragonstone on the crippled Sunfyre, Baela mounted Moondancer and attacked. The fight should not have been close. Sunfyre was larger, more experienced, and despite his injuries still a formidable dragon. But Moondancer was quick and fierce and Sunfyre was broken, and the young dragon tore into the golden beast with a savagery that surprised everyone. Both dragons crashed to earth, burning. Moondancer died. Sunfyre survived briefly but was mortally wounded. Baela survived the fall, battered and burned. It was a fight that perfectly encapsulated the Dance: young fury against broken majesty, and everyone loses.

Appearance

Young and slender, with pale green scales that shimmer with a pearlescent quality in moonlight — hence her name. She is barely large enough to carry a rider and her build is delicate compared to war dragons, all speed and agility with none of Vhagar's terrible mass. Her wings are disproportionately large for her body, giving her exceptional maneuverability. She is beautiful in the way a hummingbird is beautiful: fragile, quick, and startlingly fierce for her size.
