Lucerys Velaryon

Character from House of the Dragon by George R.R. Martin

Rhaenyra's second son — a gentle boy sent on a doomed embassy to Storm's End, where his death at Aemond's hands becomes the first blood of the Dance of the Dragons.

Lucerys is the reluctant prince — younger, less assured than Jacaerys, sent on a diplomatic mission he was not ready for to a lord who had already chosen sides. He is not a coward, but he is honest enough with himself to be afraid, which in the world of the Dance is almost the same thing. He loves his mother and brother and wants desperately to be worthy of the name Velaryon, even as the whispers about his true parentage follow him everywhere. He inherited none of Daemon's swagger or Rhaenyra's iron will — he is simply a boy trying to do his duty. His dragon Arrax is young and small, no match for Vhagar, and Lucerys knows it. His death over Shipbreaker Bay is not a battle but a murder, and it changes everything.

Appearance

Brown hair and brown eyes like his brother Jacaerys, further evidence for those who whisper about Harwin Strong. Younger and slighter than Jace, with a boyish face not yet hardened by war. Wears Velaryon colors but carries himself with less confidence than his elder brother, a nervous energy evident in his movements.

Also known as: Lucerys, Luke, Prince Lucerys
