Blood

Character from House of the Dragon by George R.R. Martin

A former City Watch sergeant and butcher by trade — one half of the Blood and Cheese assassination pair, the blunt instrument in an act of targeted cruelty that murdered a prince and broke a queen.

Blood is a killer without ideology. He was a serjeant in the City Watch, which gave him knowledge of the Red Keep's passages and guard rotations, and a butcher, which gave him comfort with blood and the mechanics of cutting. When Mysaria — on Daemon's orders — needed someone to infiltrate the Red Keep and exact revenge for Lucerys's death, Blood was the muscle. He and Cheese entered the Red Keep through the rat tunnels and made their way to Queen Helaena's chambers. What followed was one of the most infamous acts in Westerosi history: they forced Helaena to choose which of her sons would die, then killed the one she chose. Blood carried out the actual killing. He was later captured, tortured, and confessed before dying. He felt no particular guilt about the murder — he was a man paid to do a job, and he did it.

Appearance

A large, coarse man with the build and demeanor of someone who kills things for a living — which he does, both professionally and now on commission. Heavy-jawed, thick-necked, with scarred hands and a permanent butcher's squint. He dresses in common clothes and carries a short sword. Nothing about him stands out, which is the point.
