Addam Velaryon

Character from House of the Dragon by George R.R. Martin

A dragonseed of humble birth who claimed Seasmoke and proved that loyalty is a choice, not a birthright — the only dragonrider who stayed true when all others turned.

Addam of Hull was a bastard nobody until Seasmoke accepted him, and he has spent every moment since trying to deserve that acceptance. In a story defined by betrayal — where two other dragonseeds turned traitor at Tumbleton — Addam's steadfast loyalty shines like a lighthouse in a storm. He does not fight for glory or ambition; he fights because Corlys Velaryon acknowledged him, because Rhaenyra gave him a chance, and because his own sense of honor demands it. He is quietly brave, the kind of courage that doesn't announce itself but simply does what needs doing. When suspicion falls on all dragonseeds after the betrayals, Addam chooses to prove his loyalty with action rather than words, riding to his death at Tumbleton to turn the battle.

Appearance

Lean and wiry with the silver-white hair of Valyrian descent, marking him as a Velaryon bastard from Hull. Tanned and salt-weathered from a life near the sea. Dresses simply compared to trueborn lords, though his bearing has grown more confident since claiming Seasmoke. Young face, earnest and determined.

Also known as: Addam, Addam of Hull, Ser Addam, Addam Velaryon
