Princeton is the world outside the hospital — the place House rides his motorcycle, the bars where Wilson and House drink, the streets Stacy walked when she was deciding whether to leave. Most of the show takes place inside PPTH, so Princeton exists primarily as the life the characters go home to: Cuddy's house where House drove his car, Wilson's various apartments between marriages, the normalcy that makes the hospital's intensity sustainable.
An affluent university town with tree-lined streets, historic architecture, and the quiet prosperity of a place defined by its famous university. Princeton University's Frist Campus Center doubles as PPTH in exterior shots. The surrounding area includes the township of Plainsboro, where the hospital gets the second half of its name.
