House's cane is as recognizable as his Vicodin bottle and his sarcasm. It's a medical necessity — the muscle death in his right leg left him unable to walk without support — but House has turned it into something more. He uses it to point at people, tap the whiteboard, trip Wilson, poke things he doesn't want to touch, and occasionally defend himself. He told Cameron, Chase, and Foreman that the flame cane 'makes it look like I'm going fast.' Wilson bought it for him after House's dog chewed the previous one. The cane is a symbol of everything House is: damaged, functional, distinctive, and unwilling to be pitied. He could use a plain cane. He uses one with flames on it. He could walk more easily with a different mobility aid. He prefers the cane because it lets him limp on his own terms. It's the middle finger he raises at his own disability every single day.
The most iconic version is the flame-decorated cane — dark wood or metal with a red and orange flame pattern running up the shaft, which House described as 'bitchin.' He's gone through multiple canes over the series, but the flame cane is the one fans remember. Standard walking cane height, rubber-tipped, held in his right hand to support his damaged right leg.
