Whether Blythe knew and couldn't intervene or didn't know at all is one of the show's unresolved questions. House eventually proved that John wasn't his biological father — his real father was a family friend named Thomas Bell — and Blythe's decades-long secret added another layer to House's belief that everybody lies.
