Dr. Jessica Adams

Character from House M.D. by David Shore

A prison doctor from old money who joined House's team in his final season — idealistic, principled, and wealthy enough to never need the job, which made her the only fellow House couldn't threaten with firing.

Adams met House in prison, where she worked as the staff physician while House served time for driving his car into Cuddy's living room. She was drawn to his diagnostic brilliance and followed him back to PPTH when he was released, joining the team in Season 8. She's idealistic in a way that distinguishes her from Cameron's empathy — Adams believes in institutional justice and doing things the right way, while Cameron believed in emotional connection. Adams comes from generational wealth, which means she's never worked because she had to, only because she chose to. This makes her both more principled and more naive than her colleagues. House can't manipulate her with job security because she doesn't need the job.

Appearance

Early thirties, attractive with dark hair and warm features. Wears an old locket passed down through generations of her wealthy family — House identified it immediately as expensive heirloom jewelry. Dresses professionally but without ostentation, the wardrobe of someone who has money but doesn't need to display it.
