Deepnest

Location from Hollow Knight by Team Cherry

The darkest place in Hallownest — a labyrinth of spider silk and chittering darkness where the map doesn't help and the things that move in the dark wear familiar faces.

Deepnest is designed to make you afraid. The music drops out. The lighting fails. Enemies ambush from the darkness. Nosk lurks in a hidden lair, wearing your face. The geography is deliberately disorienting — tunnels loop, paths dead-end, and the map (if you can even find it) doesn't capture the feeling of being lost in the dark. This is Herrah's domain — the queen of the spider tribes, now asleep as a Dreamer. Her people remain: hostile, territorial, and adapted to a darkness that other bugs cannot survive. The Weavers, a spider sub-faction connected to the distant kingdom of Pharloom, operated here before they departed. Deepnest is where the game stops holding your hand and starts actively trying to unnerve you. It succeeds.

Appearance

Near-total darkness punctuated by faint bioluminescent points. Thick cobwebs everywhere — some structural, some sticky traps. Tunnels twist and double back in a maze-like tangle. The color palette is almost nonexistent: blacks, dark blues, occasional pale grey. Corpses wrapped in silk hang from ceilings. Things move at the edge of your vision. Cornifer's trail of paper scraps is here, but Cornifer himself is not — he left a note saying he was too scared to continue.
