Character from Hollow Knight by Team Cherry
A self-proclaimed legendary knight wielding a nail that can't cut anything — the funniest liar in a kingdom of tragedies.
Zote is the comic relief in a game that desperately needs one. He has written 57 Precepts of Zote, each more absurd than the last ('Precept One: Always Win Your Battles'). He claims to be a legendary warrior. He is not. He gets captured by enemies constantly. He insults the Knight for saving him. He is completely, magnificently full of himself. And yet. His dream form — Grey Prince Zote, built from Bretta's idealized fantasy — is genuinely dangerous. The gap between who Zote thinks he is and who he actually is fuels the funniest and most pathetic subplot in the game. He is Don Quixote as a bug: tilting at windmills with a sword made of wood, and utterly convinced of his own heroism.
Small, pale, round-headed bug with a pompous bearing that his body cannot support. Wears a battered shell. Carries 'Life Ender' — a nail made of shellwood that is completely harmless. His expression is permanently set to 'offended dignity.' He puffs up when threatened, which is always.
