Character from Hollow Knight by Team Cherry
A craftsman who has spent his life perfecting the art of nail-forging — and who asks you to end his life with his finest work once it's complete.
The Nailsmith upgrades your nail four times, each requiring Pale Ore. With each upgrade, he speaks about his craft with increasing reverence. When the final upgrade is complete — the Pure Nail — he steps outside, kneels, and asks you to strike him down with the weapon he perfected. He considers it the ultimate testament to his work: to be killed by his masterpiece. You can fulfill his request or refuse. If you refuse (by using the Dream Nail instead of attacking), he survives and eventually finds his way to Nailmaster Sheo's studio, where he discovers painting. The warrior-craftsman becomes an artist. He finds a new purpose. His arc is one of the game's most elegant moral choices: honor the craftsman's wish, or deny him his chosen ending and give him a different one that might be better.
Stout, soot-covered bug hunched over an anvil near the City of Tears. His face is focused and tired. Wears a heavy smith's apron. His forge glows beside him. As the nail improves with each upgrade, his posture straightens slightly — pride in his work visible even through exhaustion.
