Midwife is one of Deepnest's few conversational NPCs, which makes her presence both a relief and deeply unnerving. She knows things — about Herrah, about Hornet, about the Pale King's bargain — and shares them with the delighted tone of someone who enjoys knowing things that make visitors uncomfortable. She speaks sweetly. She comments on how you smell. She mentions that many travelers come through but few leave. She offers genuine lore wrapped in implied threat. You are never sure if she's being helpful or seasoning you with conversation before dinner. That ambiguity is her entire characterization.
Large spider-like being cocooned in her own web, with multiple eyes gleaming in the dark. Her mouth is wide and her voice is unsettlingly pleasant. She doesn't move from her web. She doesn't need to.
