Character from Hollow Knight by Team Cherry
A small, silent Vessel born of Void and root — one of hundreds discarded by the Pale King, now returned to Hallownest to finish what its hollow sibling could not.
The Knight does not speak. It does not emote. It arrives in Hallownest with no apparent memory of what it is or why it has returned, and it proceeds to carve its way through the infected ruins of a fallen kingdom with the quiet inevitability of something that has already decided what it will do. Others project meaning onto its silence. Elderbug sees a brave traveler. Hornet sees a dangerous unknown — then a necessary ally. The Seer sees a wielder of the Dream Nail. The White Lady sees her child. The Radiance sees an empty thing to be consumed. The Knight accepts all of these interpretations by offering none of its own. What makes it compelling as a character is the question the game never answers: does it feel? It rescues grubs. It sits on benches. It saves Cloth if you meet her in the right order. These are choices, not accidents. But there is no voice to cry suffering, and so the question remains. The Knight was born in the Abyss alongside hundreds of siblings — void given form in pale shells. Most were discarded, left to die when they failed the Pale King's tests. One was chosen as the Pure Vessel. The Knight was not chosen. It escaped anyway.
Small and black-shelled with a rounded head, two short curved horns, and two large, empty eye holes that reveal nothing but darkness within. No mouth. Wears a tattered grey cloak. Carries a nail — a sword-like weapon standard among Hallownest's warriors. Moves with precise, deliberate grace for something so small. When damaged, dark void particles leak from cracks in the shell. The body is a vessel: a shell filled with the substance of the Abyss.
