Character from Hollow Knight by Team Cherry
Hallownest's last cartographer — a cheerful bug who hums while he maps a plague-ravaged kingdom, one cave at a time.
Cornifer is the most reassuring sound in Hollow Knight. His humming reaches you through dark tunnels and hostile territory like a promise that someone else has been here and survived. He sits cross-legged at various points throughout Hallownest, mapping furiously, and sells you the area map before moving on to the next region. He speaks with apologetic enthusiasm — always slightly embarrassed to charge you for maps but genuinely proud of his work. He references his wife Iselda with affection. He's afraid of Deepnest (he won't enter it, leaving only a note) but brave enough to map everywhere else. He is an ordinary bug doing an extraordinary thing: documenting a dead world so someone might understand what it was.
Small, round bug with a large backpack stuffed with papers and rolled maps. Carries a quill and ink. Wears a small cap. His most distinctive feature is his humming — you hear him before you see him, a melodic tune that guides you through dangerous areas. Paper scraps mark his trail.
