Brumm

Character from Hollow Knight by Team Cherry

The Grimm Troupe's musician — a melancholy accordion player who secretly wants to break the nightmare cycle his master serves.

Brumm plays the music that accompanies the Troupe's rituals. He speaks in halting, reluctant sentences — as if every word costs him something. He is loyal to the Troupe but tormented by its purpose. The Nightmare's Heart demands an eternal cycle of flame-gathering and rebirth, and Brumm has decided he wants it to stop. If the player chooses to banish the Troupe (rather than complete Grimm's ritual), Brumm is the one who shows them how. He leads them to the Nightmare Lantern and helps destroy it, breaking the cycle. Afterward, he appears in Dirtmouth as 'Nymm' — a cheerful musician with no memory of the Troupe, playing a different instrument. Whether this amnesia is mercy or loss is left to the player.

Appearance

Dark, hunched figure with a pale mask-like face and sorrowful eyes. Plays an accordion that produces the Troupe's haunting music. Wrapped in dark clothing. His posture is defensive, inward-turning — the opposite of Grimm's theatrical expansiveness.

Also known as: Nymm
