A port town in a low-magic zone where Jason's adventure began — split between the wealthy Island and the criminal-run Old City.
Greenstone smells like salt water, greenstone dust, and depending on which side of the subway you're on, either expensive incense or something you don't want to identify. The Old City is ruled by criminal organizations — the Big Three — and life there is cheap, opportunistic, and surprisingly loyal. Sophie fought in the Fortress fighting pits. Jory runs a clinic. The music hall provides entertainment that doesn't require money or rank. The Island is where power lives: the Adventure Society assesses new recruits, the Magic Society hoards knowledge, and the Temple District houses the various churches. The magical subway between the two halves is a physical metaphor for the city's class divide. Despite being in a low-magic area, Greenstone produces adventurers of remarkable quality — including Team Biscuit.
A coastal port town named for the greenstone it exports. The city is divided into two distinct halves: the original Old City on the mainland, crowded and worn, and the artificial Island — originally a wavebreaker — now home to the wealthy and influential. A double-laned magical subway connects the two. The Old City's streets are narrow and layered with centuries of construction; the Island is cleaner, more orderly, with the Adventure Society, Magic Society, and Temple District forming its institutional core.
