The Reaper advocates for a simple principle: death should be final. In a world where resurrection magic exists and gods play games with mortal souls, this position is radical. An ancient assassin order — the Order of the Reaper — once served its ideals, but was completely eradicated along with nearly all knowledge about them. The Reaper's connection to Jason is complex: Jason practices the Way of the Reaper martial art, Shade was the Reaper's shadow before becoming Jason's familiar, and Jason earned the Keeper of the Cycle title through a pact with the goddess of Death. The Reaper also participated in the deal that resurrected Farrah on Earth, working alongside the World-Phoenix and, uncomfortably, the Builder.
As a Great Astral Being, the Reaper does not have a fixed physical form. Its influence manifests through shadow entities (like Shade), reaper tokens, and the Way of the Reaper martial art.
