Shade speaks with the precise formality of a Victorian butler who happens to be an eldritch shadow entity older than most civilizations. He addresses Jason as 'Mr. Asano' despite years of being asked to stop, and the only times he's broken that formality were moments of genuine emotional weight — when Jason accepted Nirvanic Transfiguration, and when Shade screamed at Jason for trying to rip a Builder cultist's soul out. He is ancient, deeply knowledgeable about the fundamental nature of the universe, and deliberately parsimonious with that knowledge. He loves books from the 'buttling genre' — stories about butlers — which Jason finds both endearing and slightly unsettling. As Jason's familiar, he provides intelligence, infiltration, and an unflappable presence that grounds Jason's chaos.
Multifarious — possesses multiple shadow bodies simultaneously (3 at iron rank, 7 at bronze, 31 at silver). Each body is a humanoid outline of living darkness. At silver rank, adopts a silhouette more akin to Jason's outline, complete with faintly glowing silver eyes. Individual bodies can be destroyed and reformed at the cost of Jason's mana.
