Not just a punishment — a functioning (barely) civilization with seven rings, a king, a caste system, and an annual genocide by angels that everyone just lives with.
Hell was created as a consequence of Lucifer and Lilith's rebellion — a place for damned souls. But over millennia, it became something its creators didn't intend: a society. Demons have built cities, economies, power structures, and culture. They have TV shows, fashion weeks, and territorial politics. The great irony is that Hell's biggest problem is the same as Earth's — overpopulation. Heaven's solution is the annual Extermination, where Exorcist angels descend and slaughter demons to thin the herd. Charlie's Hazbin Hotel is the first attempt at an alternative. Whether Hell can change is the central question of the show.
A vast, multi-layered underworld divided into seven concentric rings, each themed around a deadly sin. The sky is perpetually red, lit by a pentagram-shaped rift. The landscape varies wildly between rings — from the urban sprawl of the Pride Ring to wilder, less developed territories. It's simultaneously a parody of civilization and a genuine one.
