Shell Cottage

Location from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour's seaside cottage on the outskirts of Tinworth, Cornwall, which served as a safe house for Harry and his allies after their escape from Malfoy Manor.

Shell Cottage is where the Horcrux hunt paused to breathe. After the desperate escape from Malfoy Manor — Dobby's death, Hermione's injuries, the shattered wand — the cottage provided safety, sea air, and time to heal and plan. Bill asked no questions about what they were doing and Fleur fed them until they could think again. Harry dug Dobby's grave by hand in the garden, without magic, because the elf deserved the effort. It was here that Harry chose to pursue Horcruxes over Hallows, here that they planned the break-in to Gringotts, and here that Ollivander and Luna recovered from their captivity. The cottage is small and the war was large, but for a few weeks it was enough.

Appearance

A small, pretty cottage overlooking the sea, with shells worked into the whitewashed walls. A garden runs down to a cliff edge above the beach. The sound of waves is constant. Inside it is modest but comfortable — a far cry from Shell Cottage's role as an emergency field hospital after the escape from Malfoy Manor. Dobby's grave is in the garden, marked with a simple stone.
