Location from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
A vast library of thousands of books on every magical subject, fiercely guarded by Madam Pince, with a Restricted Section roped off for dangerous or dark texts requiring a signed teacher's note.
The Hogwarts Library is Hermione's natural habitat and the place where most of the trio's detective work actually happens. Every breakthrough — identifying the Philosopher's Stone, learning about the Basilisk, discovering Nicolas Flamel, researching Horcruxes — started with Hermione hauling armfuls of books from these shelves. The Restricted Section contains texts on dark magic, dangerous potions, and cursed objects; accessing it requires a signed note from a teacher, or an Invisibility Cloak and a willingness to risk Filch. The books in the Restricted Section scream when opened without permission. Madam Pince has been known to chase students with a feather duster for dog-earing pages.
Thousands of shelves in towering rows, lit by lamps on each table. The Restricted Section is behind a rope at the back, its books occasionally moaning or snapping at browsers. Reading tables and chairs fill the central space. Madam Pince patrols the aisles like a vulture, pouncing on anyone who mistreats a book, eats near a book, or breathes too loudly near a book.
