Trelawney lives in a permanent fog of mysticism she mostly invented to compensate for genuine insecurity about her abilities. She predicts doom constantly and takes herself extremely seriously while everyone else rolls their eyes. But she made the real prophecy about Harry and Voldemort in a genuine trance she cannot remember, and that unconscious power terrifies her when she glimpses it. She drinks to cope and fights fiercely for her position when Umbridge tries to sack her.
Extremely thin, huge round glasses magnifying her eyes to enormous size. Draped in shawls, beads, and bangles. Wild frizzy hair. Smells of sherry.
