A small wooden house at the edge of the Forbidden Forest where Hagrid lives with his boarhound Fang, hosts Buckbeak in the pumpkin patch, and mourns the Hippogriff's sentence over enormous cups of tea.
Hagrid's hut is the warmest place in Hogwarts that isn't technically part of the castle. The door is always open to Harry, Ron, and Hermione, and this year they visit more often than ever because Hagrid needs them. Buckbeak's trial and sentencing have broken Hagrid in a way the trio has never seen — he cries into the rock cakes, serves tea with shaking hands, and can barely teach his classes without losing confidence. The hut is where the trio says goodbye to Buckbeak before the execution, where Hermione finds Scabbers alive in a milk jug (proving Crookshanks didn't eat him), and where the executioner's axe falls on a fence post instead of a Hippogriff — because three hours in the future, Harry and Hermione have already untied Buckbeak and led him into the forest.
