When the truth finally comes out in the Shrieking Shack, Sirius is shaking with rage and grief: his best friend is dead, the real traitor has been sleeping in a child's bed for twelve years, and Sirius has lost everything to a lie. He offers Harry a home — 'You could come and live with me' — and for a few minutes, Harry has a family. Then Pettigrew escapes, Lupin transforms, the Dementors descend, and Sirius is captured. Harry and Hermione use the Time-Turner to free him. He escapes on Buckbeak, a fugitive riding a fugitive into the sky.
