Fred Weasley

Character from harry-potter-prisoner-of-azkaban by

One half of the Weasley twins and fifth-year menace who gives Harry the Marauder's Map — a gift stolen from Filch's office that changes everything.

Fred is the twin who pushes further, talks louder, and lands the punchline. He and George finish each other's sentences not as a gimmick but because they genuinely share a brain. This year Fred and George give Harry the Marauder's Map — the most significant gift of the book. They nicked it from Filch's office in their first year, figured out how to use it, and memorized every secret passage it revealed. They're giving it to Harry because he needs it more: he can't visit Hogsmeade without a signed permission slip, and the Map shows passages that bypass the restriction. It's an act of generosity that also demonstrates the twins' casual mastery of Hogwarts — they know every secret passage because they've used every secret passage. The Map will prove essential when Harry spots Peter Pettigrew's name on it, a dead man walking the corridors.

Appearance

Stocky and shorter than Ron, with the trademark Weasley red hair and freckles. A wide, mischievous grin that's permanently set to 'I dare you.' Identical to George in every physical detail. Carries himself like someone who's about to set something on fire and wants you to watch.
