Character from harry-potter-prisoner-of-azkaban by
The most powerful wizard alive and Hogwarts' headmaster, who hired a werewolf to teach and positioned the pieces to give Sirius Black a chance at justice the Ministry will not provide.
Dumbledore speaks in riddles wrapped in kindness wrapped in misdirection. He offers lemon drops during conversations about death. He knows more than he reveals, which this year means knowing that Sirius Black may not be the monster the Ministry believes him to be, and knowing that Remus Lupin's condition makes him a controversial hire but the best Defence teacher available. He allowed Dementors onto the school grounds under Ministry pressure but despises their presence and will not let them enter the castle. When the truth about Sirius and Pettigrew emerges without evidence the Ministry will accept, Dumbledore gives Hermione and Harry a cryptic instruction — 'more than one innocent life may be saved tonight' — and trusts two thirteen-year-olds with a Time-Turner and three hours to rewrite the evening. He trusts them because he has to, and because trusting children to do the right thing is, for Dumbledore, a fundamental article of faith.
Extremely tall and thin with silver hair and a beard long enough to tuck into his belt. Bright blue eyes that pierce over half-moon spectacles. A crooked nose broken at least once. Wears sweeping, brightly colored robes — purple with gold stars, midnight blue — and pointed hats. Moves with surprising grace for his age.
Also known as: Dumbledore, Albus Dumbledore, Professor Dumbledore, Albus, The Headmaster
