The Quidditch pitch is where Harry discovered what he was born to do. His first flying lesson — Neville's accident, Draco stealing the Remembrall, Harry diving after it — led McGonagall to break the first-year broomstick rule and make him Gryffindor Seeker. Oliver Wood coached him with manic intensity. In his first match, against Slytherin, someone jinxed his broom — it bucked and rolled, nearly throwing him off. Hermione, believing it was Snape, set his robes on fire. The jinx broke. Harry caught the Snitch in his mouth and won the match. The pitch is where house rivalries are settled, where Lee Jordan's commentary tests McGonagall's patience, and where Harry first felt what it means to be good at something.
