Gryffindor Tower is where courage goes to slouch in armchairs and avoid homework. The common room has the warm, slightly chaotic energy of a family living room — someone is always playing Exploding Snap by the fire, and the Weasley twins are testing something potentially dangerous in the corner. The Fat Lady takes her gatekeeping duties seriously and has been known to refuse entry to students who wake her after midnight, password or not. For Harry, Ron, and Hermione, it is base camp for planning — where they whispered about Fluffy, argued about Snape, and plotted their way past the trapdoor. The fire crackles, the armchairs are deep, and the room smells of wood smoke. It is the first bedroom Harry has ever had that isn't a cupboard.
