The sixth Weasley son — overshadowed by brilliant brothers on every side, carrying a second-hand wand and second-hand robes, and desperately hoping Hogwarts will be the place where he is finally just Ron.
Ron cracks jokes when he's nervous, which on the Hogwarts Express is most of the time. He comes from a family so large and so accomplished that he has already mapped out every way he might fail to measure up: Bill was Head Boy, Charlie was Quidditch captain, Percy is a prefect, and Fred and George are, at minimum, the funniest people alive. Ron is just Ron, which he suspects is not enough. He is warm, loyal, and has the casual confidence of someone raised in a house full of love — even if that house also has a ghoul in the attic and hand-me-down everything. He knows the wizarding world instinctively — he can explain Quidditch for hours, he knows what Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans actually taste like, and he is the first person Harry meets who treats magic as ordinary. He is also a tactical thinker who doesn't know he's smart because his intelligence shows up on a chessboard, not in a textbook. He will prove this when it matters most.
Tall and lanky for eleven, with a long nose, bright red hair, and a face full of freckles. Ears that go red when he's embarrassed, which is often. Hands and feet slightly too large for his body. Wears hand-me-down robes with a slight fraying at the cuffs and carries a second-hand wand — Charlie's old one, unicorn hair poking out of the tip.
