Character from harry-potter-philosophers-stone by
Harry's snowy owl — a birthday gift from Hagrid and the first thing Harry has ever truly owned. She is beautiful, imperious, and the closest thing to a friend he has during the long summers at Privet Drive.
Hedwig is Hagrid's first gift to Harry — bought from Eeylops Owl Emporium in Diagon Alley — and she represents everything new and magical about the world he is entering. She is his mail carrier, his companion, and during the miserable summers at Privet Drive, the only living thing that seems to care whether he exists. She is smart enough to find recipients without being given an address, affectionate on her own terms, and temperamental when she feels underappreciated. She is the first thing that is truly his.
A beautiful snowy white owl with large amber eyes and pristine feathers. She carries herself with a dignity that suggests she considers Harry lucky to have her, not the other way around. She ruffles her feathers when offended, nips his fingers affectionately, and hoots softly from her cage.
