The wooden cabin at the edge of the Forbidden Forest -- empty at the start of term, then suddenly occupied when Hagrid returns battered from his giant mission, and finally the site of his dramatic arrest attempt.
Hagrid's hut this year is a target. Umbridge inspects his classes with barely concealed disgust, marks him down, and builds the case for his dismissal. When they finally come to arrest him -- at night, with multiple Ministry wizards -- Hagrid fights back. McGonagall runs to his defense and takes four Stunners to the chest. Hagrid escapes into the forest with Fang, leaving the hut dark and empty. Before all that, it is still the warmest place at Hogwarts. The rock cakes are still inedible. The tea is still too strong. And Hagrid still opens the door with a smile for anyone who needs him.
A one-room wooden cabin with a smoking chimney. A crossbow and galoshes stand by the front door. An enormous pumpkin patch beside it. Fang the boarhound slobbers on visitors. Inside: a massive bed, a fireplace with a copper kettle, hams and pheasants hanging from the ceiling. The door is always open to friends.
