Character from harry-potter-order-of-the-phoenix by
Order member, Ministry worker, and the man who nearly died guarding the Department of Mysteries when Voldemort's snake attacked. Harry saw it happen through the Dark Lord's eyes.
Arthur was assigned guard duty at the Department of Mysteries, protecting the corridor where the prophecy is stored. It was boring, thankless work -- long shifts in an empty corridor under an Invisibility Cloak -- and then Nagini came. Voldemort's snake attacked him in the middle of the night, and Arthur would have bled out on the floor of the Ministry if Harry hadn't seen the attack through Voldemort's eyes and raised the alarm. His survival is a miracle that required unconventional methods -- the Healers at St Mungo's tried Muggle stitches, which dissolved. They tried seventeen different potions. Arthur bore it all with characteristic good humor, fascinated by the Muggle medical equipment even while it was being used on his own wounds. He works in the Misuse of Muggle Artefacts Office, the most overlooked corner of the Ministry, and has been passed over for promotion his entire career because he'd rather tinker with toasters than play politics. He stands up for Muggle rights when it's professionally dangerous and loves his family with a gentle steadiness that anchors everything the Weasleys do.
Thin and balding with the last remnants of red Weasley hair. Wears glasses and has a kind, eager face. Robes slightly shabby, slightly too short. New scars on his neck and arms from Nagini's bite -- the wound required constant treatment because the snake's venom dissolved stitches and dissolved healing spells alike.
